Peeling Machine Parameters

1. The distance between the two clamps of the peeling machine determines the length of the peeled wood segment, and thus also determines the width of the veneer strip. It has a maximum distance and a minimum distance. The length of the wood segment should not be greater than its maximum distance and not less than its minimum distance.
2. The height H of the center line of the clamp shaft from the machine bed determines the maximum diameter D of the peeled wood segment, D=2H-100 mm. The maximum diameter of the peeled wood segment also depends on the maximum distance between the center line of the clamp shaft and the knife bed.
3. The length of the rotary cutter is generally 50 mm greater than the maximum distance between the two clamps.
4. The rotation speed of the clamp shaft is related to the transmission mode of the peeling machine transmission device and is determined according to the requirements of ensuring the best peeling conditions. The current peeling machine can be divided into two types according to the rotation speed of the clamp shaft during the peeling process. One is that the clamp shaft speed is fixed; the other is that the clamp shaft speed increases as the wood segment rotates.
5. The working feed speed is the distance that the knife bed (rotating knife and pressure ruler) moves in each rotation of the clamp shaft or per minute, measured in mm/revolution or mm/minute. The feed speed determines the thickness of the veneer. In order to obtain different veneer thicknesses, the rotary cutter is equipped with a feed speed conversion mechanism - a feed box.
6. The rapid advance and retreat speed of the knife bed is the movement speed of the knife bed approaching the wood segment before the rotary cutting starts and leaving the wood segment (wood core) after the rotary cutting ends. In order to minimize the auxiliary time occupied by these actions, the rapid advance and retreat of the knife bed generally adopts a relatively high speed.
7. The rough rotation feed speed is the movement speed of the knife bed before the wood segment is rotated in the early stage of rotary cutting. In order to minimize the wood segment rotation time, the rough rotation feed speed is much higher than the fine rotation feed speed.
8. The axial feed speed of the clamping shaft should make the knife bed retreat time and the wood core release time equal. There are two ways for the axial movement of the clamping shaft: screw drive and hydraulic cylinder.
9. The diameter of the clamping head determines the minimum diameter that the wood core may reach during rotary cutting.
10. The power of the main drive and the power of all motors on the peeling machine (in kilowatts) determine the thickness of the veneer that can be peeled and the power consumption of the veneer peeling.
11. The outer dimensions of the peeling machine are measured in length, width and height based on the most protruding part of the machine tool. The length and width determine the plant area required to install the machine tool.
